The Leadership Prayer Gathering originated in 1994 as the Wadsworth-Rittman Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, sponsored by the local Christian Businessmen's Committee. On May 7th at 7:30a.m. in Wadsworth High School Cafeteria local leaders were gathered as well as many citizens from our community. Troy Jarvis, Chairman of Wadsworth-Rittman C.B.M.C. serving as Master of Ceremonies greeted the gathering and lead in a corporate Pledge of Allegiance. Tom Gordon, Vice-Chairman Wadsworth-Rittman C.B.M.C. followed by invoking God's presence and thanking Him for the food about to be partaken. Breakfast was served. After an intermission of approximately 45 minutes the program was resumed. Mr. Jarvis introduced Mayor John Hanna of Wadsworth, who greeted every one and spoke briefly of his support for such an event. Mayor Warren Hardgrove of Rittman also added greetings and a word of encouragement. The Old Testament reading was given by Ferris Brown, Medina County Commissioner which consisted of the entire 34th Psalm. The prayer for state, local and national leaders was offered by Ron Amstutz, Representative, State of Ohio. The New Testament reading was given by Cheryl Noah, Wayne County Commissioner which consisted of 1John 4:7-21. Patty Suppes of Rittman followed by performing the long version of the National Anthem to a standing ovation. Mr. Jarvis then followed by introducing the featured speaker of the morning, Dick Leggatt Vice-Chairman of the Northeast Ohio Roundtable. Mr. Leggatt's message centered on Genesis 1:1" In the Beginning God".
