The 1999 Mayoral Prayer Breakfast was moved to the O.J. Work Auditorium in Wadsworth. The name was changed to the "Leadership Prayer Gathering".This event took place Saturday, April 24th. The following participated in the program. Troy Jarvis, Wadsworth-Rittman C.B.M.C. served as M.C.; Reverend Ronald Hesley of the Rittman United Methodist Church offered the Invocation. Mayor John Hanna of Wadsworth and Mayor Bonnie Kindig of Rittman welcomed every one. There was a special tribute to deceased Mayor Warren Hardgrove. Both Mayor Hardgrove (postumously) and Mayor Hanna were presented plaques of special appreciation for their support of the Mayoral Prayer Breakfasts 1994 thru 1998. Charles Calvert, Representative, State of Ohio offered the Old Testament reading, Pslam 103. Reverend Stanley Ward of the Wadsworth Church of the Nazarene, offered the prayer for state, local and national leaders. Ron Amstutz, Representative, State of Ohio, offered the New Testament reading, 2Cor. 5:10-21. A choir, made up of volunteers from the Wadsworth and Rittman church community, performed "America the Beautiful" and the "'Battle Hymn of the Republic". Mr. Jarvis then followed by introducing the keynote speaker, the Reverend Peter Marshall whose message was entitled "Is There Hope For America?" This message was very timely, given just days after the Columbine High School tragedy.
